For a spot-on reproduction of 1980’s delay sounds, the Radical Delay from Alexander Pedals is a good day. This pedal produces crystal clear delay tones that you can use in a variety of interesting ways. The MOD mode produces super-clean digital delay with adjustable modulation from slow chorus, to fast vibrato. The GLITCH mode is a bit more unusual in that you can use it in conjunction with the TWEAK knob to make the pedal echo exactly what you play or echo random pitch modulations like a video game console. The BEND mode replicates the earliest digital delay technology in which the pitch spirals up or down with each repeat. This pedal has a lot of tonal options and is a “radical” addition to any collection of stomp-box delays.
